How to find you Life Mission | 10 Though-Provoking Questions to get you started on your journey

Is your Life Mission strong enough?

If you feel like you are consistently jumping from one shiny goal to another, you might not have clearly defined your Life Mission.

Your BIG WHY, or life mission, can be defined as “your path in life”. It’s the guiding force that realigns you whenever you feel lost, it’s your chore.

For me it all started in 2016 when I decided to run 3000 km for 3 months in Japan. I knew then that it was the first stage to my life mission, even if I couldn’t articulate it yet. At the time, I knew that I was embracing a mission bigger than myself.

Kilometer after kilometer, I realized that I could help people around the world become better versions of themselves. I am able to open up and connect with people, create friendships, give and receive in a space of total enlightenment, love and generosity while living my life at the fullest. When I came back home after 72 days of running, the African Run Project became my chore, I would do whatever it takes to see this project come to life. My life mission became very clear.

Here are a few Questions that will help you figure out your Why:

A Life mission is about serving a cause bigger than yourself, building a life around giving back. It’s a place where your mind and body are in sync, ready to do whatever it takes to serve a greater cause.

My life mission is “To change the world through running and human connections while providing clean and safe water to women and children around the world.”

“But how can I find MY mission statement?”

I’m glad you ask! Here are some questions for self-reflection to get you started:

  1. What are your personal strengths and characteristics?

  2. What are things you are good at?

  3. What are you passionate about?

  4. What are your favorite things to do?

  5. What are your chores values?

  6. What are your hobbies?

  7. Who are your role models? Who inspires you?

  8. What makes you feel good about yourself?

  9. What gives you a sense of fulfillment in your life?

  10. What is a cause that you strongly believe in?

Answer these questions and self-reflect.

Your life mission should be based on actions, who you want to help, the benefits for them (the people that you serve) and the results you will create.

Take the time to answer every question, I recommend you write down your answers, get creative, make links, draw a mind map, draw if you’d like, do what it takes to get a better picture.

What are your thoughts telling you?

We all want to realize our dreams.

But we all know what happens, your mind starts to block you. It’s those little but harmful thoughts: “I am not good enough”, “I am too young/too old”, “I don’t know what my family will”, “I can’t disappoint”, “I don’t have enough money”, “If I follow my dream I won’t have enough time with my family”, “I have too many responsibilities”, “I have to pay the bills”, etc.

For a long time you carry those subconscious thoughts with you, and you slowly accept them as a part of your true self. You make up these false stories because you are scared, your mind lies to you. You create never-ending traps where you silently let yourself slip inside society’s wheel. If you do not wake up on time, you will die with a life of regrets.

You will miss out on a life of giving, love, happiness and true joy, where you embrace the gift of life, which we all deserve. You will deny your own greatness.

Choose your Life Mission, not your Make-up stories

As soon as you realize that your surround yourself with your own negative believes, it’s your duty to get rid of them as quickly as possible.

You are the one who controls your thoughts. When you are feeling a strong negative emotion: accept it, received it, feel it, give yourself a specific amount of time to live it and after that force yourself to change state for a more empowering one.

My favorite way to quickly change state is, of course, to go for a run! Go see your friends, spend time with your family, listen to your favorite music, do what it takes to realign yourself.

Do not allowed your own thoughts to become your enemy. If your own mind tells you you are not good enough, simply reply in an empowering manner: I can do it! Take action and Just do it! When you are taking action towards in your own life mission, you increase your self-confidence and leads you to take more actions, you build momentum, it’s only going up from there on. Day after day you live a life of true fulfillment.

We all have one life and it’s our duty to live it with purpose and fulfillment.

“Efforts and courage are not enough without purpose and direction.” ―John F. Kennedy
