For this Man, Finishing his 160km race meant shifting this One Mindset​

Last Weekend, I had the incredible luck to run a 100 Miles with my friend Karl.

 

(special shout out to Craze Nut Ultra virtual run)

 

The sole reason I ran this Ultra was for him to complete his first 160km. Before, he would always DNF his race, even in our first attempt we DNFed together…

But this time, for the first time, HE SUCCEEDED!

 

So what happened? What did Karl do to finally Achieve this MAJOR milestone in his passion?

 

Let's look into the Mindset shift Karl had to make during our run to succeed and how this can be applied to your own life.

 

Even if you don't run or are not interested in Ultras, you can still use this mindset to surpass any Setbacks to achieve your goals!

 

The Mindset Shift that changed his DNF pattern:

 

Limiting beliefs are one of the strongest holdbacks someone can have, most of the time we aren't even aware we have them!

 

For Karl, it was the same.

 

He is trained enough, he is mentally strong enough…but something within him kept him from his greatness…

 

I had to find out what limited him so we could push through to the finish line. I went ahead and used my Coaching techniques slowly digging through to find the gems…

 

Fears are VERY strong motivators in our lives. We often go through life to avoid fear at all cost. Sometimes Identifying that fear is all it takes to break through this pain holding us back.

 

For Karl it was the same.

 

After discussing for a while, I finally asked him: "Are you afraid of the cut off?"

 

I could see him finally connecting the dots.

It was now crystal clear!

 

He was afraid of the cut off because of feeling of exclusivity to cross the finish line and to somewhat be inadequate…

(which is absolute none sense, Karl is always smiling, having fun and pushing through pain like a pro in our casual runs)

 

His smile came back and he strongly pushed through the end of the race like the absolute champion he is!

 

I couldn't be more proud of him. This mindset shift is what broke his pattern of DNFs!

 

Realizing your fears and negative mindsets is a truly liberating process.

 

And it can break your negative patterns too.

Ask yourself:

 

  • Are you aware of your limiting self-talk?
  • What would your life look like if you didn't listen to these negative voices?
